Obituary of Barbara Leanne Rankin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Rankin (nee Kidd), on Wednesday December 14, 2022, with family by her side, after a courageous battle with cancer.  

Barbara is lovingly remembered by her soulmate of 48 years Rick; son Jason (Jenny); daughter Janna (Devin); brother Barrie (Heather); grandchildren Brody, Marley, Anna, Haylee and Shelby; mother-in-law Gladys Rankin; as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Martin and Dorothy Kidd.

 Barbara born and raised in Lumsden. Mom spent all of her 68 years there, 48 of those with her husband Rick. She spent her time raising us kids, working for her mother-in-law at Rankins Grocery, which she came to purchase and operate some years later. An avid football and baseball fan, animal lover and gardener, Mom’s focus in life was always on her home, beautiful yard, and of course children. She loved the outdoors, spending endless hours horseback riding in her earlier years, camping, travelling, and gardening. Always kind, first to help and a great sense of humor. Mom will be missed immensely by all who knew her.  

A Come and Go Memorial will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Centennial Hall, 40 3^rd Avenue, Lumsden, SK.
