Obituary of Walter Blaha

Please share a memory of Walter to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to a wonderful father, husband, grandfather and friend. Left to mourn Walter's loss are his son Doug (Mea); daughter Anita; grandson Greyson; great-grandson Kaiven; and his sister Gerda. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Sophie; his sons David and Dwight; and his brother Horst. In 1954, Walter immigrated to Canada from Germany. It was a poster at a barber shop advertising Saskatchewan that caught his eye. He placed an ad in the German newspaper in Regina seeking a job of any type. Walter was hired as a farm hand. At times he questioned his decision to immigrate to such a remote area, so different from that of Germany but never looked back after that. After a little over a year, he switched jobs from a farm hand to a pipe fitter. Eventually, Walter started his own successful business of fence installation. When he retired, his sons bought the business from him and continued with the company. Walter enjoyed carpentry, keeping an immaculate yard and some winter vacations to Mexico, Arizona, Costa Rica and Europe. We would like to thank the doctor and nurses, who are special angels at the Pasqua Hospital for the wonderful care they gave him. No service will be held at Walter's request.
