Obituary of Betty Hnatiuk

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Betty passed away with her loving family by her side Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the age of 87 years. Born in Rhein, SK, Betty grew up following her family as her dad worked for CN rail. In 1950, Betty moved to Yorkton where she met and fell in love with John, and they were married in 1955. The young couple made their home in Regina and Betty began a career working in retail at the Metropolitan store, Simpsons and Sears. She was also a stay-at-home mother with her young children and spent many weekends with her family on their small farm near Lipton.

Betty was the queen of crochet and knitting-- everything from the most intricate doilies to afghans to sweaters. She was also a talented seamstress sewing clothing for the family and making the most beautiful quilts that continue to keep us warm through the harsh prairie winters.

Left to cherish Betty’s memory and celebrate her life are her daughter Tammy Boyce and grandson Shane; son Terry (Teri-Lynn) Hnatiuk and grandchildren Dillan (Chelsea), Brennan (Taylor), Kaiden and Meira; sister Doreen (Robert) Vandermeulen; brother Larry (Donna) Liebrecht; as well as the numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that were dear to her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John of 60 years; and parents, Solomon and Lydia Liebrecht.

Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Paragon Chapel, 145 Hodsman Road, Regina, SK with a Graveside Funeral Service being held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 29 at Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Highway #1 East (meet inside the cemetery gates).

A very special thank you to all the medical staff on Unit 4B at the Pasqua Hospital for their outstanding and compassionate care of our dear mom. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army William Booth Special Care Home.
