Mom would have been 90 this November. Her parents came to Canada over a hundred years ago. Canada then, was a far away & unknown land, but just like thousands of other Eastern Europeans, they took & chance, made the journey and they made a go of it as best that they could.
Mom came from the first generation born in Canada. It was a big loving family. She was a Great Grand Mother several times over; loved deeply by everyone that truly knew her.
She was a proud, hardworking Canadian girl. Mom lived life on her terms and did not suffer laziness or foolishness from others. It is not to say that mom did not like a good laugh, for sure she did, but when there was work to do, she was never afraid to get in there & get her hands dirty and get the job done. She expected nothing less from everyone else around her.
She and Richard lived life together, fully & independently until her very last days. They greatly enjoyed each others company & we will be eternally grateful to Richard for sharing his days with her.
Mom came from a family that tilled the soil to sustain themselves and others. Until her last days, she took away great joy in planting & tending her plentiful fruit & vegetable garden.
Mom came from a farming tradition that brought life from the soil. Mom, you had a wonderful run. Though I confidently say that you will surely be missed, your time has come. It is time for you to return from whence you came and return to the Earth. As the Book of Common Prayer says:
“ We are here to commit this body to the ground, earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust; in sure and certain hope of the Resurrection to eternal life... “

Dear Olga. You were the mother I never had and dear friend. You were the hardest working woman I knew. You cared so much for your family and supported them all. Life gave you challenges and disappointments but you always looked for the good in people. You were as tough as nails but had a good heart. You spoke your mind and held firm on your values and beliefs right or wrong.
A lover of tennis and a true Toronto Maple Leafs fan! You loved and lived to be true to yourself.
I regret not seeing you lately.
Love you
Kimmie Baby!
