Obituary of Rhonda Faith Rusk
Rhonda was born in Regina on May 6, 1963 and passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2022. She was predeceased by her father Doug Lucke; mother Faye Mason; uncles Ray Poliquin, Jim Nokleby and, Niels Pederson; aunties Eileen Poliquin and Bert Nokleby; as well as numerous cousins, family and friends.
Rhonda is survived by her loving husband Kerry Rusk; sister Roxanne Brackley (Colin Roberts); brother Darryl Lucke (Karen); niece Santana Brackley; brother-in-law Paul Brackley; nephews Carson and Ethan; and niece Malaya.
Rhonda passed after a lengthy illness that began a few years ago. She fought valiantly, recovering numerous times even though it seemed unlikely as the physicians thought it was a miracle she pulled through time after time. Rhonda fought her illness with vigour until the very end, and was making plans for the future, even in her last days. Rhonda was hoping to return to her work at the Salvation Army and pondered where and how she and Kerry would go camping this summer. Rhonda was still making plans for her summer flowers on the deck in her last days and thinking of better ways to stay connected with her family.
Rhonda had a heart so filled with love, she was an inspiration to those that knew her and will be forgotten by very few. God has called this Angel home, where she will be reunited with her parents, all her fur babies that passed on as well as many others.
A meaningful poem seems proper,
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
Kerry liked to remind Rhonda of that when she was hurting and scared all the time. God carried Rhonda for a long time before calling her home. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Paragon Funeral Services, 521 Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK.
