Obituary of Jack Joseph Michlik

Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Michlik, Jack Joseph October 27, 1926 – June 13, 2016 Jack passed away at the age of 89 years. He was predeceased by his wife of fifty-seven years, Delphine, his parents Albert and Susan, and his cousins Mary (John) Eiwanger and George Eiwanger. Jack will be fondly remembered by his son Albert and his children Dallas, Clinton (Paulina), and Cassie (Mike) Aschenbrener and their daughter Leah; Jack’s daughter Bev (Ken) Spanier and their daughters Janesse (Kody) Spanier and Sheena (Nick) Campbell and daughters Karamie and Zada; Jack’s daughter Joanne (Maurice) Dureault and their son Bryce (Bobbi-Jo) and daughter Jelienne (Garnett) Unger and children Hudson, Manning, and Georgia. Jack is survived by his sister Rose (John) Stoffel and family; cousin Helen (Julius) Kotylak and family; and cousin Loretta Eiwanger. Dad had farming and music in his veins right from the hop. He was fascinated by antique farm machinery and his ’46 Chevy double clutcher truck. He was an avid WWII history buff as well as a voracious reader, he would tackle any volume; the size wasn’t important. Back in the day, he played the country school dance circuit in an old-time band featuring himself on C melody sax and accordion and his sidekicks Steve Moleski on fiddle, Alex Benesh on six-string acoustic lead guitar and occasional guest appearances featuring the sax and guitar stylings of John Stoffel. Dad was a committed cyclist, tearing up the hot-rod streets of beautiful downtown Dysart with his light blue Sekine two wheeled bike, which he rode until the age of 87. Dad loved visits from his children and their spouses, seven grandchildren and their spouses, and six (and counting) great-grandchildren. He was a kind and gentle man who showed interest in everyone’s life. Dad was a social person and enjoyed visiting within the community and needed these visits to get by the past few years. Special thanks to the staff at Harrison Manor in the Fort, Lakeside Nursing Home in Wolseley, All Nations Healing Hospital in the Fort, and Regina General and Pasqua Hospitals. Also a note of thanks to the church volunteers in Fort Qu’Appelle and Wolseley who delivered communion to dad. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church in Dysart, SK.
