Irene Hawes of Regina, SK passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband James Hawes; daughter and son-in-law Shirley and Keith Sundwall; parents Ida and Merle Marquard. Left to Cherish Irene’s memory are her son Gary (Lynn) Hawes of Rowan’s Ravine, SK; six grandchildren, Brett of Calgary, AB, Chris (Tammy) of Regina, SK, Brad of Regina, SK, Remy (Jim) of White City, SK, Nathan (Nikki) of Regina, SK, and Arrick (Ami) of Dubuc, SK; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Hailey (their mom Tanyas), Riley and Brantley; and one sister-in-law Betty Anticknap.

Irene and her husband Jim raised two children, Shirley and Gary, after marriage in 1949. They owned and operated grocery stores in Govan and Spy Hill for 24 years. Upon retirement, they move to a farm north of Whitewood and later they lived in the town of Ituna. Irene ventured off to Dubuc and Regina after Jim’s passing in 2004.

Irene will be remembered for her fun loving, easy going personality. She was the type that would drop everything to go help family and friends without questions. Irene would shine when around her grandchildren and their dogs. She will be missed deeply by all those who love her.

To follow with Irene’s wishes, there will be no funeral service.
