Obituary of Dora Workman

Please share a memory of Dora to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Dora Workman (nee Huys) on Wednesday, March 23, 2022.  She was born to Louis and Pharilda Huys and was the youngest of ten siblings with six brothers and three sisters.

Dora married the love of her life, Malcolm Workman on October 9, 1954 in Brandon, Manitoba.  They were married for 61 wonderful years.  Together they raised five children:  Louise (Bob) Stennett, Cathy Pisch, Gerald Workman, Allan (Sherry) Workman and Anne (Steve) Jacquin.  Dora was blessed with nine grandchildren:  Tara Stennett, Andrew (Lyndsie) Stennett, Diane (Jeff) Clark, Michael Pisch (Nikki Sinclair), Taylor (Brandi) Workman, Tenielle Workman (Fraiser Belanger), Tanya Workman (Maxwell Rae), Trefor Jacquin (Maddie Christian) and Brandon Jacquin (Taylor Gleisner).   Additionally, Dora was happy to be able to meet and enjoy the first of her great-grandchildren – Maria Clark and Nixon Workman.

Mom was a strong, compassionate woman, who made family her priority.  She could always whip up a meal in a matter of minutes for whomever showed up on her doorstep. Whether it was family, or our friends, you were always welcome to sit down to a meal.  Mom was happiest when she had her family around the table.

Dora was predeceased by her husband Malcolm in 2015; parents; siblings Clara, Margaret, Cyril, Marcel, Arthur, Medard “Shorty”, Marie, Gustave “Gus” and Gerard “Slim” and their spouses; son-in-law Bob Stennett in 2019; Malcolm’s parents; siblings and their spouses as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Mourning Dora’s passing are her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Estelle (Medard) Huys and many nieces, nephews and friends.

We would like to thank Dr. J. Kuzmicz for the wonderful care she has provided Mom over the years, as well as the fantastic staff at the Montmartre Health Centre for the compassionate care they provided for Mom.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022 in Riverside Memorial Park, 815 Assiniboine Avenue East, Regina, SK.   Please meet inside the cemetery gates just prior to 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Activities Fund at the Montmartre Health Centre, PO Box 206, Montmartre, SK S0G 3M0.
