Obituary of Jean Kowalyshyn

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce that our Mother, Jean, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the age of 88 years. God has called her home to once again be with Dad.

Jean will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and remaining family and friends.
Jean was raised on her parent's farm in the Jedburgh district where she went to school. She met Stanley Kowalyshyn and they were married in 1952, the beginning of their life together during which they lived in various locations first in Jedburgh, then five communities where Dad worked for the Sask. Wheat Pool. In retirement, they lived in Regina and Balgonie with Mom remaining in Regina after Dad passed away.

During their years together Mom worked at several places, but her most important career was being a mother and grandmother. Throughout her life Mom placed a strong importance in her faith in God that created her strength and commitment to her family.

Jean is predeceased by her loving husband Stanley Kowalyshyn; parents Peter and Mary Makowetsky; brother Allan Makowetsky; brother-in-law Jack Hawka; Dad's parents; and many of Dad's sisters, brothers, many of their spouses; as well as some of her cousins, nieces and nephews.

Mom's memory remains with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Wayne (Lynette) of Montmartre, SK and their family; Michael (Cherie) and Maks of Lumsden, SK; Nichole (Jamie) and Alexia, Leyton of White City, SK; Ken (Lori); Summerland, BC, and their family; Jason (Whitney) and Kira, Chase of Montmartre, SK; Jennifer and Harper, Piper of Regina, SK; Kaitlyn of Regina, SK; and Susan (Dale) of Vibank, SK and their children and grandchildren.

Jean also leaves her sisters; Iris Hawka of Yorkton, SK, Frances Rasmussen of Ituna, SK; sisters-in-law Jeanette Fedoruk, Julie Gerwing, Olga Nieman and Claire Kowalyshyn; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff and residents at Eden Care Lilac Lane for their care and friendship to Mom during her last several years living there. We also extend our gratitude to the staff at Willam Booth Special Care Home and Grace Hospice for your care and comfort of Mom during her remaining last few weeks.

A Semi-Private Funeral Mass with immediate and extended family, and Mom's close friends will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Parish, 2026 Winnipeg Street, Regina, SK. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

I wrote your name on the sand...but the waves washed it away.
I wrote your name on the sky...but the wind blew it away.
I wrote your name in my heart...and forever it'll stay
