Obituary of John Berthold Holfeld

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of our dear “Papa” John.  John passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the age of 81 years after a brief illness.  John was born in Jansen, SK on May 26, 1940.

He was predeceased by his infant son Dwight; father Oscar and mother Ottillie; sisters Dorothy (Bob) Unger and Evelyn (Henry) Kinzel; and son-in-law Len Schinkel.

John will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife Elaine of 61 years; son Darwin (Sandy) and children Ashley (Trevor) and Tegan, Allyson (Dustin) and Fuller, Robyn (Kevin) Kenna and Haisley; daughter Shelley (Harold), and children Brandon and Brittnee; son Darcy (Debbie) and children, Kelsey (Ryan) and Kaelyn, Rylan; son Duane (Shelly) and children Colton, and Carson.

John was raised on a farm five miles north of Jansen. He was a man of many trades and enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving truck and being a mechanic. John loved to get his hands dirty and worked on the farm until he retired. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Cameron Curtis, Palliative Care Team and SWADD Team.

There will be a private service arranged in Jansen, SK to celebrate John’s life at a later date.
