Obituary of David Lyle Kennedy
David Lyle Kennedy, 66, of Regina, SK passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday, December 7, 2021. David was born in Regina on July 15, 1955. He was predeceased by his parents, Vaughan and Ann Marie Kennedy; and his younger brother Darcy, who passed away in 2000. He is survived by his younger brother Darrell of Regina Beach, SK; and two younger sisters, Tracy and Terry Kennedy of Mission and Vancouver, BC, respectively. David is also survived by two nephews, six great-nephews, two nieces and one great-niece. He was married twice and maintained a strong bond with Wenda's daughter Tracy, her children, and her kids. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends and their families.
As a kid, David was a natural athlete who spent hours at outdoor rinks honing his stick handling and skating skills. He maintained a love of sport throughout life, and he had diligence to rise above and pull off impossible acts; his backhanded pool shots, the old under the leg Ping-Pong returns, or the stumbling attempts to grab a grounder and spin it into a double play. And for those that knew him best, David had masterclass skill at card-play and many a board game. Never a dull moment and always a few new 'rules'. David was a man with huge compassion, a heart of gold and a calm reassuring demeanor. As a brother he always listened, always cared, shared, and nurtured. It was easy to be under his unique spell. David showed great empathy for many in his life, he would give the shirt off his back if anyone needed it or even just wanted it. While David wore many hats in his working life, at heart he was a Carpenter / Scaffolder and a lifelong member of the Regina local Carpenter's Union. He worked on numerous large projects throughout the province and had retired just recently. David will be sorely missed and never forgotten. Those that love him will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
A celebration of David's life will be held at a later date and David will be laid to rest with his mother, father and brother.
In Loving Memory
David Kennedy
