Obituary of Mary Eleanor Eckes

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Eleanor Eckes (nee Campbell) on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her parents Eldon and Iva; sisters Katherine, Eileen, Ramona, Jean, Doris and Amy; brother Duncan; sister-in-law Bernice; brothers-in-law Orval, Archie and Stan; and her nieces Lesley and Roberta.

Mary will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children Jim Campbell (Christine), Sandra (Barry) Soutar, Bonnie Kitzul (Chad), Pauline Merriman; grandchildren Duane, David, Nicole, Karli, Dieter, Alisha and Mason; great-granchildren Emma and Evie; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mom was born on the family farm west of Craik, SK, the fourth oldest of 10 children. She moved to Regina in 1951 and called it home for the next 70 years. During those years, Mom enjoyed working as a waitress and always had a smile for her customers. Mom had a strong work ethic and believed every job should be well done.

Mom loved the simple things in life: having coffee and reminiscing with her sisters, interacting with her children and grandchildren, relaxing in front of the T.V. (watching old movies or reruns), everything Elvis and joking with the staff at Regina Lutheran Home where she resided for the past five years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Regina Lutheran Home for the care comfort and friendship they gave Mom.

Mary will be laid to rest in the family plot at Girvin, SK.
