Obituary of Edna Katherine Godkin

Heaven gained an angel on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.  My Mom, Edna (Robertson) Godkin was 93 years old and passed away peacefully.

 

She is survived by her daughter Gwen (Mark); grandson Marshall (Lisa); sister Donalda; along with her nieces, one nephew and her cousins.

 

She is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John; father Harold; mother Nancy; sister Betty and husband Douglas; brother-in-law Barrie; sister-in-law Grace; father-in-law George; and mother-in-law Isabelle.

 

Mom graduated from the Regina General Hospital in 1951 and loved her career in nursing.  She ended up back in Balcarres after teaching at the RGH and nursed at Balcarres Union Hospital and at the end of her career she was matron of Parkland Lodge.

 

Gardening and flowers were her passion.  After retirement Mom and Dad loved travelling and spending time with their close friends both in Balcarres and Regina.  In 1994, they moved to Regina and enjoyed making new friends and being closer to their family.

 

The last few months Mom enjoyed phone calls from her friends and family and loved to reminisce with them.  I enjoyed hearing every story.  Her mind was like a whip and she always kept up with all the world news and of course her sports.  She was an avid Sask. Rough Rider fan, along with curling and tennis.

 

A heartfelt thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at the Regina Pasqua Hospital, Palliative Care Unit.  Mom received such compassionate loving care which made her last days so peaceful and comfortable.

 

 A private family service will be held in the spring, her favorite time of year.
