It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of John Patrick Alexander Moosemay on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the age of 34 years.

John is survived by his loving parents Verna Gale Nahnepowisk and Richard Moosemay (Ivadelle); siblings Shannon (Scott), Matthew (Sheyenne), Lawsen, Richard Jr., AJ (Amanda), and Rosa (George); special nephew and godson Hunter; niece Remi-Sage and nephew Gage. He had an amazing bond with Hunter, Remi-Sage and Gage. He took them as his own. John also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and special auntie Stella Nahnepowisk and uncle Wayne Isaac for their loving and continuous support.

He was predeceased by maternal grandparents Alex and Joyce Nahnepowisk; paternal grandparents Alex and Christabelle Moosemay; brother Billy Joe; sister Bonnie Moosemay; uncles Howard and Donnie Nahnepowisk; and aunt Audrey Nahnepowisk.

John had a beautiful spirit. He touched many hearts and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A heartfelt thank you to Ivan and Jan Ladouceur and the Sundance family for their beautiful teachings and loving guidance.

Special thanks to Chief Mark Fox, Elders Harry Francis and Murray Ironchild, Paul Nahnepowisk, Patricia Kaiswatum, Shirley Carrier, Arthur Steinhauer and family, also to everyone who showed guidance and loving support.

A wake will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. with a Traditional Funeral Service on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Piapot Band Hall, Piapot First Nation. Please no children.
