Obituary of John Dueck
It is with heavy hearts that we let family and friends know that John Dueck, late of Regina, passed away suddenly on Monday, July 26, 2021, at the age of 77. John was predeceased by his mother and father, John and Tina Dueck; sisters Eva (Jake), Mary (John), Kay (Henry), Helen (Leonard) and Ann (Stan); brothers Dave (Judy/Helen) and Abe; mother-in-law Gisela Feser and father-in-law Edward Feser; brothers-in-law Don, Bill, Jack, Peter, Tom, and John Feser; nephews Gordon, Clarence, Herman and Christopher; and nieces Elsie and Alvina.
John is survived by his loving wife Maria of 50 years; and three children, Jason (Rayelle) Dueck, Nathan Dueck, and Connie (Trevor) Bridal; 15 grandchildren, Jason’s children: Chelsea, Linaea, Christian, Kamryn, Liam, Alana and Aleah; Nathan’s children: Mitchell, Jarett, Dontay, Brianna, Damien and Colton; and Connie’s children: Zander and Micah; three great-grandchildren Trey, Kailer and Aria; his remaining siblings Erna Wiebe, Leona Heinrichs, Clara (Henry) Wiebe, Dora Dueck, Lynn Dyck and Jake (Zsuzsanna) Dueck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was born on December 16 in the white house on the Cornelson farm by Gouldtown. After a few years, the family moved around before settling in Herbert. He started school at the age of 8, knowing only German, which increased his difficulty in learning the English language. John successfully completed his schooling until Grade 8, at which time he was asked to work at a ranch to help with financial hardship at home. From the ranch, he moved to Saskatoon and started in the construction trade which took him to many cities where he worked for many years. In 1969, he met the love of his life, Maria. They courted until they married in May of 1971. They made their home in Regina where they were blessed with three wonderful children. Over the years the family grew to include 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren which were the light of John’s life. John enjoyed fishing, camping, sports, carpentry, playing his guitar and singing with family and friends.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Kings Corner Church of God, 2110 King Street, Regina, SK followed by a lunch and time to share memories and celebrate a life well lived. The burial will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Herbert Cemetery in Herbert, SK. All are welcome.
