Obituary of Robert Young

The family of Bob Young sadly announce his passing on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the age of
76 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. With his family around him during his final days, he slipped away peacefully and is now free from that struggle.  He was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children Dianne; parents Nick and Mary Young; sister Kathy; and uncles and aunts.  Bob will be sorely missed by his wife Wynona; daughter Roni (Mike) Berezowski; son Rob (Lorri) Young; step-son Russ (Tracy) Roy and six grandkids, Jake, Emma, Riley, Sydney, Korri and Josie.
 

Born on May 29, 1945, the family could tell that Bob would be special and he did not disappoint them. From an early age, Bob showed great promise with his athletics which parlayed into a full hockey scholarship to Minnesota Duluth and a business degree. From there he started his business career with Sears Canada and moved up the ranks until he was in charge of Western Canada distribution, a remarkable feat for someone so young.

Always in need of a challenge, aside from several side businesses which included building houses, Bob was also active in the community as he was part of the Regina Separate School Board and on the Board of Directors for Access Communications. Bob’s pastimes included hunting and fishing, golfing and coaching his son throughout the years. He did all this surrounded by his family and friends and he cherished those times. During the off-seasons, he was a creative artist from carving wood decoys to stone sculptures…he could do it all!  When his professional career ended, he took up ranching with his wife and became a fast learner of the trade. He earned the respect from the most seasoned cowboys in the area.

Bob was a great man, father and family figure and we will miss him dearly but our hearts are happy that he is now at peace.   A celebration of Bob’s life will be held this summer for family and friends with notification to be posted at a later date.   The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Pasqua Hospital of Ward 3-D for making his final days so peaceful.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
