John Hamilton Lawford John Lawford of Lumsden, SK passed away in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the General Hospital on Monday, April 11, 2106 at the age of 70 years. John was born October 20, 1945 in Glasgow, Scotland. He was the only child of John Fredrick Lawford and Lily Hamilton (need Hinds) Lawford. John was predeceased by his mother and father and son Robert John Lawford. He is survived by his wife Sherry of 49 years; sons Grant of Rapid City, MB and Johnathan of Lumsden, SK; grandchildren Jessica, Kaitlyn and Zachary Lawford; great-grandchild Jack Bennett Hamilton Lawford; aunt Florence Lawford of Lumsden, uncle James Kelly of Dorval, QC; many cousins, nephews and nieces; as well as brothers-in-law Roy Durnin (Susan) of Rapid City, MB, Neil (Jean) Durnin of Shaunavon, SK and Faye Stelmack of Shaunavon, SK. At the age of 7 months, John’s war bride mother brought him to Canada on the ship The Queen Mary. They settled in Regina where they were later joined by his father once he was released from active duty in the Canadian Army. John grew up and completed high school in Regina. After graduating he began a career in truck sales and management that lasted for 50 years. This career began at International Harvester, followed by Percival Mercury Lincoln and then the Dalawri Group, Triple Seven Group. During this career John so enjoyed the many co-workers, acquaintances and friends that he met. His career included an adventure as an apiarist, working with his wife’s family in the honey bee industry at Rapid City, MB. John retired from the Dalawri Group in May 2015. He took special delight in having begun his career with International 700 Broad Street and retiring 50 YEARS LATER IN THE SAME BUILDING. After a short retirement, John trained as a Commissionaire where he enjoyed 8 months in security, well liked and highly respected at the University of Regina. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Medical ICU staff at the Regina General Hospital for their dedicated, compassionate care. Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
