Obituary of Robert Roderick MacKeracher

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Robert “Bob” MacKeracher on Thursday, May 6, 2021.  Bob was predeceased by his parents, Barbara and Robert MacKeracher.  He will be lovingly remembered forever by his wife of 27 years, Arlene Eberhardt; children Lisa MacKeracher Slawter (Cornell), Lyndsay (Mario Cedeno) and Justin; grandchildren Alexander, Kylen, Brendan and Erica; sister Barb White (Greg); brother Bruce (Helene);  step-daughter Natasha Morris (Jason) nieces Tracy MacKeracher, Jennie McCulloch (Greg); and nephew Chris White; as well as extended family and many dear friends.

Bob was born on September 11, 1952 in Saskatoon, SK.  His father was an R.C.M.P. officer so Bob called many places home during his childhood.  He returned to Regina in his Grade 12 year.

Bob had various occupations including working in retail, selling insurance and in restaurants before he started at the Co-op Refinery in August 1976. After a traumatic accident at work Bob lost his hearing.  He was fortunate to be one of the first people to receive a Cochlear implant which allowed him to hear well enough to return to work at the refinery. Bob worked his way up from welder to mechanic to machinist.  He retired from the refinery in July 2017 after 42 years.

Bob’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy and he was happiest when they were able to spend time together. He was an avid Riders fan, loved fishing, reading, movies, and fireworks. He was handy and did many building projects and renovations to the family home. Bob loved hosting and cooking for friends and family.  Bob’s move to the acreage near Southey in August of 2002 was the fulfillment of a life-long dream to live in the country. Bob loved animals and nature and he and Arlene had many beloved dogs and cats throughout their years together.

Due to Covid, a memorial service will be held at later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Regina Humane Society or a charity of your choice in Bob’s memory.
