Obituary of Gordon Alfred Ernest Brown

Please share a memory of Gordon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

"For once you have tasted flight you walk this earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been and there you long to return."

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gordon Alfred Brown on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the age of 88. He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Helen; sister Ethel; brother in law Julian; sister in law Marion; son in law Michel; and nephew Michael. Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife Edythe of 64 years; his children Cheryl (Michel), Heather (Mike), Yvette (Ed), and Dean (Carla); grandchildren Christopher (Aislinn), Stephanie (Michael), Sheldon, Jeremy (Kayla), Josh (Mackenzie), Kylah (Sena), Justin (Christine), Dylan, Christina (Logan) and Hayley; great-grandchildren Bennett, Wyatt, Hunter and Mason; sister Freeda (Anthony); brother in law Don (Marion); sister in law Carol (Bill); as well numerous nieces and nephews in Scotland and Canada.

Born in lnverkeithing, Scotland he emigrated to Canada in 1950 as an apprentice Fur Trader for the Hudsons Bay Company. Gordon’s initial posting to northern Saskatchewan led to a long and varied career with government agencies in the far north including Manitoba and the Arctic. He had a passion for flying and was most proud of obtaining his private pilot’s license. Gordon loved the north and everything in it, taking us all on many adventures camping and fishing. He truly had a long, interesting and exciting life, a legend to us all. Family was everything to him and we will miss him forever in the Brown Clan here and in Scotland.

We would like to give special thanks to the staff of 4A at Pasqua Hospital and Ward 36 at Wascana Rehab for his care in the final days. At his request, there will be no funeral service, but he will rest in the north. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic.
