Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert Reginald Hamilton
(1928 - 2016)
It is with our deepest sadness that the family of (Bob) Robert Reginald Hamilton announces his passing on Sunday, April 10, 2016. Bob is predeceased by his loving wife Lynn (Mann) Hamilton. Bob is survived by his children Linda Hamilton; Brad and Donna (Hamilton) Schwartz and their children Anthony, Jennifer and Natalie, Adam and Nicole (Schwartz) Putz and their children Owen and Zoey; and Reginald and Susanne (Serli) Hamilton and their children Nicholas and Veronica. Grandpa Bob will be greatly missed by the Schwartz grandchildren's dearest friends; Scott Ash, Yianni Cabylis and Annika McLeod.
He was born to Reginald Charles and Edna (Anderson) Hamilton on March 19, 1928 in Regina. Bob’s courtship of Lynn included numerous lunches, dinners and many afternoon games at the Lakeshore Tennis Club. They were married in Regina on May 5, 1956.
Bob loved outdoor life in Southern Saskatchewan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and camping with Lynn and his young children. We have such glowing memories of all the wonderful times at the cottages and lakes with Bob and Lynn.
He began his working career as a salesman traveling rural Saskatchewan with Robinson Machinery. Bob believed that integrity, honesty and hard work would make the opportunities to become an entrepreneur. He gained his business skills working retail at the Simpsons Department Store in downtown Regina in the 1950’s as Camera Department Manager. Bob’s real first entrepreneurial effort was running his own professional photography studio during the 1960’s. Having a keen sense for business and a camera at hand enabled him to capture his family life moments on colour movie film for us. Bob’s business experience lead him to start a career in Real Estate where he worked during the 1970’s as a Property Manager with an extensive portfolio in Southern Saskatchewan. Bob then became a successful Real Estate Agent and Real Estate Broker helping many and making long lasting friendships through his work with the Regina Real Estate Association. During the 1980’s he operated several start-up businesses and encouraged his children into business.
To say that Bob loved aeroplanes and cars - is simply an understatement. If Bob was ever to come home late for diner Lynn would only ever have to ask - What did you buy this time? And all she would have to do was look out the kitchen window into the back yard to see a Cessna plane Bob dragged home that he was going to restore and get flying again - and he did. He loved cars as much as planes. Bob possessed the rare ability to look at an old junker rusting away in some farmer’s field and visualize it in his mind’s eye as a glimmering showcase prize - and then make it real. Throughout his life Bob realized his talent in restoring hundreds of cars and planes. Tinkering on the next project in his garage shop was his passion which he continued through his long life.
Bob was an intelligent and thoughtful student of life - an avid reader. Bob continued to stay current on his keen areas of interest throughout his lifetime. Important to Bob was that he gave back to the community that he came up in. He was a Master Freemason at the Grand Lodge of Regina and Wa Wa Shriner.
Bob's families wish to acknowledge the professionalism and care provided by Regina EMS Paramedics Mathieu Leonard, Jesse James Stewart, Andrew Taylor, and Rob Snell. Our heartfelt thanks also go out to the Emergency Departments at the Pasqua Hospital and General Hospital, the compassionate care team on 6E including Dr. Kaban, and especially Nurses Dani and Sarah. Lastly, special thanks to Bob's coffee buddies for all the good times and laughs shared at A&W, especially lifelong friend Walt Euteneier. At Bob's request, there will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regina Humane Society.
