Obituary of Teresa Marie Massey
MASSEY, Teresa (nee Licameli)
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Teresa, on Friday, February 26, 2021. Born in West New York, New Jersey on December 21, 1923. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband Daniel, and loving daughter Janice. She leaves to mourn her passing, daughter Karen Tremblay (Gary) and grandchildren Luc (Megan), Leigh (Cory), April, Dawn, and the light of her life, great-grandson Henry James.
Mom lived most of her life in New Jersey until she moved to Canada to be near me and my family. She was always a proud American but loved Canada and her life here. It didn’t matter where she was, as long as she was with us. Mom was a strong woman; she had an amazing positive attitude. She had been through so much in her life. How difficult it must have been to lose a child, but she was a great example of strength to all of us - someone so easy to look up to.
Mom loved her grandchildren more than anything. It was the highlight of her day to see them or talk to them on the phone. Mom was a true example of what mother means. She never put herself first. She was a selfless, giving person to all who knew her.
Mom had a sweet tooth, which was evident in her wonderful baking. She made the best pies, and we all loved her famous biscotti. She enjoyed grocery shopping and cooking. Her speciality was Italian food. She loved reading, crocheting, and looking at photo albums over and over again. Sadly, she had to give up these activities when she lost her eyesight. In her usual determined style, she found other things to enjoy like listening to music, always welcoming a new CD - especially Rod Stewart.
Mom was a health food nut, definitely born before her time. She really enjoyed a good kale salad and never missed a day of taking her vitamins.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Green Falls Landing who helped me care for my mother this past year, the caring nurses and doctors on 4A Pasqua Hospital, and Dr. Prakash Patel, Mom’s doctor and friend for his kindness and support.
We will miss you terribly Mom, but you will be in our hearts forever.
A private graveside service will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021. Online messages of condolence may be left at www.paragonfuneralservices.com
