Obituary of Josephine Findura

Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Josephine Findura (nee Mysliwic) on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at the age of 99 years.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband Michael; son Joseph; companion Ludwig Opresnik; brothers Jakub, Anthoni and Dominik; and sister Maria. She is survived by her brother Franciszek; sister Aniela; grandchildren: John (Shelley), Halina (Alex), Joe (Michelle) and Kasia, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Josephine was born in Frydman, Poland in 1921. In 1961, she immigrated to Canada to be with her husband who had immigrated the previous year. Many people will remember her as a very generous hostess as well as an amazing cook. Her baking was legendary, especially her rhubarb cake. She enjoyed travelling the world and took many trips back to Poland. In her later years she enjoyed summers at the cottage on Katepwa Lake with her companion Ludwig.

We would like to thank the staff at the Santa Maria Nursing Home for their excellent care during her time there. Special thanks also go out to Josephine’s nieces Bernadette and Tamara for their compassion and help in caring for her in her later years.

A Private Funeral Mass for the family will be held at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Polish Parish on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m.  The service will be available to view at https://youtu.be/-CDrKMEaQtg.  Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park.   To leave online messages of condolence, please visit www.paragonfuneralservices.com
