Obituary of Frances Elizabeth Hunter

Please share a memory of Frances to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Saturday, February 20, 2021, our precious mom, mother-in-law, gramma, great-gramma and aunt, the matriarch of our family, went home to be with her Lord and into the loving arms of her husband Clarence who was waiting for her. Her loving family was by her side.

Frances was predeceased by her loving husband Clarence in 2007; brothers Tom Slavin and Denis Evans; and sister Helen Beckstead. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Laurie (Gerry) Chouinard and family: Geraldine (Brent) and their children Owen, Gabe and Brody, Tom (Mel) and their children Ashely, Savannah and Walkor, Naomi (Ryan) and their children Lydia and Landon, and Greg (Daisy); Tom (Cheryl) Hunter and family: Jamie (Tricia) and their children Austin and Cole, Robert (Jen) and their children Keira and Luke; Susanne (Murray Wagner) Hunter; and Ted Hunter.

Born and raised on the family farm near Palmer, SK. Mom was a career woman. She started as a hairdresser and after marrying dad in 1948, moved to the Kincaid district to farm. Mom and Dad had many business interests including construction, concrete, the “Red Rooster,” the hotel and grocery store.  After 1985 they spent their winters in Mesa, AZ. Mom loved it there and was part of many groups. She especially loved her writers group. Mom wrote many wonderful short stories that the family will cherish. She was there in her “little tin house” last winter when Covid-19 hit and we had to make a fast trip home.

Mom was a most loving, compassionate, giving and intelligent woman who kept a positive attitude through thick and thin.

We will miss her so very much!

A special thank you to the staff and nurses on 3A at the Pasqua Hospital. You are incredible angels.

The family will have a memorial service in the Spring or Summer. In lieu of flowers or trees, donations may be made to the Salvation Army in memory of our mom.
