Obituary of Marta Duquette

Our beautiful, funny, one of a kind, precious as a diamond, DUTCH girl, MARTA, passed away at the age of 81 after a short battle with cancer on Thursday, February 11, 2021.

Marta was born in the Netherlands in 1939, endured and survived the 2nd world war and then immigrated with her mother, younger brother and sister to Regina, SK in the Spring of 1955. She found work at King Size Photo as a printer where she met our dad, John Duquette and married in February of 1958. After raising her 5 children, Marta returned to work in the mid 70's at Pinder's Drugs, Rosemont Shopping Ctr. and retired in 1990.

Marta is survived by her children; Robert (Sheila), Russell (Monica Wallis), Tina (Dennis) Moscaliuk, Mark (Carey McCormick), Renee (Marco) Sacchetti; brother Hans (Sylvia) Van Dam; sisters Coby Bessey, Tina (Eldon) Scott; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and her best friend forever Ruth Mock. Marta was predeceased by her husband John Duquette (2002); sisters Joke Culic (1999) and Ann Grootjes (2020)

AN ODE TO OUR MUM

Tina, Mark, Russell, Robert, Renee; Oops mum which one did you mean to say.

Making her mad was not the thing to do or she'd have a banana to peel with you.

While the cats away the mice will eat.

She'd gladly pour you a coffee from her "caravan" and show you the "piasco" in her den.

Mum, no matter what saying you managed to reinvent, we always knew just what you meant.

We are so happy you travelled across the sea to meet our dad and couple to make our family!

Our family sends our deepest gratitude to Dr. Pillay, Dr. Ramlakhan and the nursing staff of the St. Joseph Hospital in Gravelbourg, SK for the care, kindness, support and compassion they gave to our precious mum and our entire family while in their care during her final days.

Per Mum's wishes a Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
