Obituary of Margaret Patricia Heywood
It is with deep sadness that the family of Margaret Patricia (nee Patenaude) Heywood announces her sudden passing on Sunday, January 10, 2021 in Regina, SK at the age of 87 years.
Pat was predeceased by her husband John; parents Alexis and Mary (nee Kastak) Patenaude and sister Mary Ann Levesque. She is survived by her sister Jenny Brown and brother Joe Patenaude.
Pat will be lovingly remembered by her sons Bill (Danae) and their children Chelsa, Jody and Jordan, Ken (Heather) and their children Brittany and Nathan and Brad and his son Jonathan, along with eleven great grandchildren.
Pat was born in 1933 in Dunning, ON and grew up in northern Ontario, where she enjoyed various outdoor activities, including hiking and hunting.
Pat moved to the small town of Rouleau, SK (“Dog River”- of the Canadian sitcom “Corner Gas”) in 1957, then Regina, SK in 1967. She and John had all three boys in Rouleau where they owned the only lumberyard in town. In these years Pat enjoyed curling, bridge and various community activities. She continued to excel at playing bridge even in her later years, sometimes leaving Regina to improve her chances of winning competitions. Pat remained in Regina, living on her own, until she moved into Santa Maria in 2016.
The family is extremely grateful to the staff of Santa Maria for their care of Pat in her later years, as well as Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, where she spent her final days.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a family Memorial Service in memory of Pat will unfortunately be delayed until Covid-19 restrictions lift.
In Loving Memory
Margaret Heywood
