Obituary of James Robinson

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Jim Robinson, on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Long Lake Valley Integrated Care Facility in Imperial, where he was lovingly cared for by exceptional staff and thrived for the last four years of his life.  Dad is lovingly missed by his two daughters, Leslie (John) Blair and Leanne Robinson (James Winder); his four grandchildren, Jennifer, Josh, Clarke and Mallory, and three great-grandchildren, Jailya, Skyla and Asha.  He was predeceased by his wife, Doreen in 2004.  Jim was an avid classic movie watcher and sports enthusiast – Go Riders!  Dad’s work at the Regina District School Board as a janitor for almost 30 years kept him young at heart being surrounded by children’s voices and laughter.

After Mom’s passing, all our attention was focused on Dad and we got to hear many entertaining stories of his childhood, family life and past escapades, mostly all ending in humor and with Dad’s impish giggle.  He flourished in his new ‘man-cave’ for over 10 years after Mom’s death, then after some health issues transitioned to the Long Lake Valley Integrated Care Facility, in Imperial.  He made new friends there, loved the caring staff, didn’t complain about the meals, and was thrilled when the local school kids paraded through and did crafts, or performed for all the seniors.  He loved the entertainment, the side trips into town and especially the visit to Danceland in Watrous, which was a highlight that also generated many memories and entertaining stories from his past!  We can’t thank the staff at this care facility enough for the wonderful loving care and compassion that they gave our father, and we know that he leaves friends there that will surely miss him too.

A memorial will be held later this year. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to Long Lake Valley Integrated Care Facility.
