Ronald Radigk

Obituary of Ronald Joseph Radigk

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With heavy hearts, we announce that Ron passed away peacefully with his son by his side on December 16, 2020.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Bruno and Peggy Radigk; and his brother Gary Radigk. He is survived by his son Josh Radigk (Sarah); Josh’s mom Sharon Radigk-Kobialko; sister Betty-Lou Gaudette (Eddie); nieces Christelle Gaudette, Joni Gaudette (Dave Cargill) and Nicole Gaudette.

Ron grew up in Regina, SK, where he owned and operated a cab for 22 years. In his younger years, Ron was a gifted athlete in many sports but had a passion for hockey and golf. Whether it was junior, senior or even old-timers, if you played hockey in the Regina area, you knew who Ronnie was. He was a powerful presence with a rocket shot that earned him the nickname “The Rattler”.

As Josh grew up; Ron embraced the role as coach in Josh’s various levels of hockey. His humour entertained many players and spectators at Josh’s Junior B hockey games as he assumed the role of announcer at the Pilot Butte Express home games. Ron was a lot of fun and had a great sense of humour, that people remember fondly.

Through sports, Ron built an undeniable fierce bond with his son up until his final days. Ron and Josh would spend countless hours on the golf course at the Royal Regina meticulously invested in Josh’s golf game. He was a staple at the course as Josh’s caddy providing colorful commentating and “speeching” throughout the round.

Ron’s favourite things to do included watching his Patriots win six Superbowl’s, catching any competitive golf tournament of the week, and walking the course with his son.

He was quietly a proud father and was beaming with pride at Josh and Sarah’s wedding last year. He was surrounded by people that not only loved his son and new daughter-in-law, but also him. Josh’s many friends were an extended family to Ron who were always thrilled to spend time with him.

Ron and Josh were two of a kind. Father and son by blood, best friends by choice.

They were both very competitive by nature and this pushed each other to always “grind”. They both shared their love for sports, like spending Sundays watching NFL, playing golf or simply going for a coffee and a drive.

“Hot coffee, beautiful morning, scorecard in hand, Radigks on the tee box”.

Special thanks to Jennifer and all staff at the General Hospital who looked after Ron during the last few weeks of his life.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of Ron’s life will be held at a later date in the spring.

Thank you for all the love, memories shared, and support during this very difficult time.
