Obituary of Sharon Lea Smith

Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With heavy hearts, the family of Sharon Smith share the sad news of her passing on Saturday, October 31, 2020. Sharon Lea Smith, loving sister and mother of one, lost her courageous 14-year battle to Primary Biliary Cholangitis and passed away peacefully at the age of 61 with her family by her side.

Sharon was predeceased by both her parents Edward David Smith and Irene Lorane Smith; and baby sister Beverly Ann Smith. She is survived by her only daughter Megan Juravle (Kurt); brothers Dave Smith, Glenn Smith, and Rick (Heather) Smith; and her long-time devoted partner Arthur Flengeris. She will be missed by her cousins, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Sharon Smith was born on October 5, 1959 in Yorkton, SK. She grew up in Regina where she worked for Nicor Property Management for over 25 years and built strong lasting friendships with everyone at work before and after going on permanent disability. She raised her daughter Megan to be a successful loving person just like herself. Sharon’s selfless qualities are very apparent in her daughter and continue to shine through in all her friends and family.

Sharon was the type of person who always gave just to give out of the goodness of her heart. She always felt rich when family was around and valued time with them above anything else. Her sincere, kind, and gentle soul created a light that shone on everyone who met her, and they quickly became friends as a result. Sharon was a role model to her only daughter whom she loved more than the world. She was also a caring and loving sister to three older brothers that admired and looked up to her strength and courage. As compassionate as she was, she also had a funny side to her. She would crack jokes, be quick witted, and had her own vocabulary of modified expressions, which were quite funny and random.

She loved her two fur babies, Gideon (cat) and Margot (dog) and would always make sure they had plenty of treats and belly rubs. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals, seeing nature, and the trips her and her daughter experienced together in the later part of her life.

A special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff at the General Hospital on 5E, 3E, MICU, including Dr. Zacharias and Dr. Boan. We are extremely grateful for her life-long dedicated doctors, family doctor Dr. McMillan, and specialist Dr. Nel for their exceptional compassion and commitment to Sharons care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honour of Sharon to www.liver.ca to help raise awareness and possibly save another life.
