Obituary of Gerald Allan Wilson

Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we inform you that we have lost our father, grandfather and great grandfather. Gerry passed away at the Wascana Grace Hospice, Regina, SK on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the age of 88 years. Our gentle giant always tried to take care of the needs of those around him first, especially Jackie. He is survived by his sons Shaun (Deb), Troy and Todd all of Regina; grandchildren Brad (Whitney), Trevor (Katie) and Diana (Mark); Great grandchildren Zane, Ryker, Kaydence, Kinsley and one new addition to arrive in March 2021. Dad was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline (nee Ross, 2007) and his parents Karl and Nellie. Born and raised in Regina in 1932. Dad met Jackie Ross and on August 30, 1955 they were married in Gull Lake, SK. Together they raised three boys in Swift Current. Gerry was well known in the auto/truck sales industry for most of his working years. It was while employed at Ham Motors dad had the honor of being named a one of the top 50 salesmen Chrysler Canada (he won at least twice). Gerry was always up for a visit be it friends, family or clients. In his off time, he loved to cook and made the best turkey gravy. In his off-time Gerry was at one time a member of the Swift Current Masonic Lodge, he loved to go fishing, was a prolific reader and appreciated helping Jackie raise their boys into proud young men.  Some of his best times were visiting with Jackie’s family Barrie (Marlene) Ross; Shannon (Gary) Anderson and all the nieces and nephews. After retiring Dad spent 23 years volunteering at Swift Current SPCA Bookstore. A few years ago, he made the decision to move from Swift Current to Regina to be closer to the family. Here he became a surrogate dad to many of his son’s friends. “Always up for a visit” The family would like to thank the staff at the Pasqua and General Hospitals and more recently at William Booth Care Home for care that was given. At Gerry’s request there will be no formal service. For friends so wishing, donations to the Swift Current SPCA would be appreciated.
