Obituary of Victor Gerald Donnelly

Victor Gerald Donnelly, age 70, passed away peacefully at the Regina Lutheran Home on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 with family by his side. Due to Covid-19, a private family service and interment will be held.

He was predeceased by his father James. Victor is survived by his mother Katherine “Kay”; sisters: Lorraine (John), their children April and Cathy; and Joyce, and her children Rachelle, Rheann and Myles.

Victor was born, raised and lived his life in Regina. He attended Harrow De Groot School. Victor worked at Cosmopolitan Activity Centre (his nickname there was “Handsome Vic”) for 42 years and retired in 2012. He lived at home with his mom and dad then moved to Kramer Home where he lived for 24 years. Due to health issues Vic moved to Extendicare Sunset in 2013, before moving to Regina Lutheran Home in 2016.

In his younger years, Victor was an avid walker and could outpace everyone. He enjoyed music of all kinds, especially polka music. Victor loved to dance and then later in life enjoyed wheelchair dancing. Bowling with Special Olympics was his favorite activity for over 25 years. He enjoyed the sport and the camaraderie with his buddies. Victor also enjoyed Disney movies his favorite movie of all time, The Wizard of Oz.

We will miss Victor’s warm smile, favorite sayings and easy-going nature. 

You taught us to appreciate the simple things in life: a smile, friendship and caring for one another, and your spirit is now free to fly over the rainbow.

Vic you are well loved and will be missed by all your family and friends.

And to quote a line from Victor’s favorite movie The Wizard of Oz:

“A heart is not judged by how much you love,

but by how much you are loved by others.”
