Obituary of Evelyn and Gerald Eberhardt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald and Evelyn Eberhardt. Jerry passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2020 after a brief illness, and Evelyn on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 after battling Alzheimer's for several years.  They were predeceased by their son Hugh in January 2018. Left to mourn them and tell their tales are children Sherry (Kevin) Lindenbach, Steven, Arlene (Bob MacKeracher), Kathy and Daryl; granddaughters Natasha (Jason) Morris and Virginia Preikschat; and great-grandchildren Kylen, Brendan and Erica Morris.

Mom and Dad owned Queen City Glass from 1961 to 1997.  Mom continued working long after Dad retired as she loved people and keeping busy.  She enjoyed knitting, sewing and even took up trapshooting for a period of time. In later years her favorite hobby became doing her family’s genealogy, finding relatives and making friends along the way.  Mom was very outgoing and loved a good party.  She was always very generous with her love and affection. Mom adored children, and her greatest joys were her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Even though Alzheimer's took her from us, she still had a sense of humour and was able to tell us stories that made us laugh till we cried.

Dad shot trap and skeet from 1968 until his early eighties, making life-long friends. Most summers were spent travelling for trap shoots.  He loved to socialize and meet people.  Dad was an avid hunter and loved his horseback trips into the mountains to hunt elk with his best friends.  He also loved fishing and would go up north every chance he could get. Dad’s other loves were reading and gardening. Tomatoes were his favorite and he would always share the bounty.

A small service was held for Dad on February 19, 2020. A family graveside service was held for Mom on October 2, 2020. A memorial for Evelyn and Jerry will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Regina Humane Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan or a charity of your choice.
