Obituary of Dorothy Materi

Our feisty, firebrand of a mom passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at the age of 87 years. Dot is survived by her daughter Dona; and sons Doug, Wayne, and Joe. She is predeceased by her husband Martin and son Curtis. Dot was independent at an early age, supporting herself by waitressing at age 14. She met Martin in Lachine, QB and got married at age 18. The rest, as they say, is history. They were married for 67 years until Martin’s passing in 2018. Dot had a passion for needlecraft and a talent for cards, skunking us at cribbage only two weeks ago. A huge thank you to Joseph, Irma and Diane for allowing Mom to live independently as long as possible. She often spoke about how lucky she was to have you helping her. At Dot’s request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation.
