Friends around here started texting me to ask if Matthew was a relative. I replied, "With a name like that, there is very little doubt." To be truthful, I met Matthew only once, at his Dad's funeral. He seemed friendly and nice. Addison and Dot used to bring the whole family down to our farm once in a while, usually on a Sunday. That was a big trip (Regina to Froude) in the 60s! Twenty years or so ago, I reconnected with Addison and Yvonne. I always called them when we curled in Regina. We became very good friends. I remember Bill the most, but I remember Sharon and Debbie also. About 6 years ago, I met a keyboard player in a couple of bands that I enjoyed listening to. I wish I had told him my name back then because I recently found out that he is married to Jeannie! I hope this world lets us get together again soon. In the meantime, our sympathy goes out to Matthew's family.

Haven't seen Matt in years but when I did know Matt he was a guy with a big heart and smile that brightened the room. He would do anything for anybody which wasn't always the smartest choice but he was loyal in his word. I am sad to see this come across Facebook as I hoped one day to see he became the person he always wanted to be instead. Prayers to his family during this horrible time.

I will never ever forget you. You're the love of my life. You taught me so much. You showed me what life is about on both ends of the spectrum. Matthew has been there done that with EVERYTHING. He knows so many ppl we couldn't walk through any end of the city without him seeing at least 2 ppl he knew. He knew ppl in the drug and gang scene , but he also knew ppl who are respected members of society I guess for lack of a better term... he had so much hope and dreams and motivation. He was my rock. When I had no energy or Fight left in me Matt would do it for me... we were together all the time. Since his release from prison in April I cant even remember a night where I didnt have him beside me. I didnt have to worry or be afraid about anything when he was around. He introduced me to so many amazing ppl and I'm excited to live my life through Matt. I'm prepared to accomplish all the goals matt had that he now isn't able to. I know all he wwanted was to get clean get my kids back and make his momma proud so I'm prepared to do all of that! Unfortunately matthew passed away on our one yr anniversary so it's always gonna be a date that has good and bad meanings to it.... but at least now I know that I have a solid guardian angel watching over me... I love you Matthew to the moon and back and around the stars!
