Obituary of Gladys Kalynuk
The family of Gladys (Koshowski) Kalynuk wishes to announce her passing on August 18, 2020, at the age of 90. Gladys was born in Regina, SK on November 11, 1929. She is predeceased by her husband Mike; parents, Nettie and Steven Koshowski; brother Ehor (Michael) Koshowski; sister-in-law Rose Wells; and brothers-in-law, William Kalynuk and Gary Wells.
Gladys lived in Regina and was employed by SGI for nearly 10 years. She and Mike were united in marriage on August 8, 1953, and raised two daughters, Mikalyn and Paula. During their marriage, they moved between several communities and eventually settled in Canora in 1966 where they resided for 45 years, there she became active in various organizations; Canora Horticultural Society, the local library, and the hospital auxiliary. She was also a Girl Guide Division leader (Brownies), a member of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, active in the church choir and enjoyed several years as a member of the Ladies Orthodox Organization (Canora and Regina branches).
In 2005, they took up residence at Hamilton Plaza (Regina) where she volunteered and enjoyed various community activities. They later moved to Selo Gardens. After her husband Mike passed away in October 2018, she then moved to the Care Home division of Selo Gardens where she enjoyed the remainder of her days surrounded by her loved ones. Gladys considered Selo Gardens her home; the family would like to extend their gratitude to the compassionate and attentive staff that devoted their time to her care.
She will lovingly be remembered by daughters Mikalyn Kalynuk and Paula Zatylny (Howard); grandchildren Carrie Bailey (Brandon), Matthew Zatylny and Kaitlyn Zatylny; great granddaughters Emme and Eva Bailey; and sister-in-law Sharon Koshowski.
There will be a private family graveside service at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
In Loving Memory
Gladys Kalynuk
