Ethel Olive Eley passed away on July 6, 2020 at 90 years of age.


Ethel was born in Regina in 1930 to Ernest and Clara (Wiles) Penfold. Following a challenging childhood, Ethel married her husband, Lawrence S. Eley, in 1958. Ethel was predeceased by her twin sister, Joan, in 1930, her mother in 1941, her father in 1978 and by her husband in 2014. She is survived by her daughter Maureen Eley of Regina; son Ron (Maureen) Eley of Regina and grandchildren Kaitlin and Nicole; daughter Marion (Cliff) Gallinger of Weyburn and grandchildren Robin (Dave) McLeod and great-grandchildren Sophie and Grady; Ryan Gallinger; Tyler (Nicole) Gallinger and great-grandchildren, Walker, Marshall, Jake and Piper; and Kayla (Fred) Gill and great-grandchildren, Mary, Charlie and Henry.


Ethel resided in Regina her entire life. She enjoyed telling tales of her years working at Sears, Schlumberger Oil Well Exploration, and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.. Ethel was a very sociable person and developed many life-long friendships. Ethel was an active member of Engineer Wives, the Desk and Derrick Club and All Saints Anglican Church.


The family would like to thank Extendicare Parkside’s staff for their kindness and care of Ethel over the past four and half years.


As a result of COVID-19, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to their charity of choice in memory of Ethel.
