Obituary of Barbara Anne Smith

Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our dearest mother, grandmother and friend, Barb Smith. She left us sleeping peacefully in the eve of Friday May 22, 2020 in Palliative Care at Regina’s Pasqua Hospital.

She is predeceased by parents Leona and Willard Zorn; brother Randy Zorn; and husband Wayne Fahlman. Barb is lovingly remembered and survived by daughters Wendy Erickson (Mark) and Corie Smith; grandson Parker Smith; granddaughter Anne Nameth (Joel); great-grandchild Rykr Nameth and brother Kelly Zorn.

In a time of doubt and uncertainty she showed courage, strength and resolve. Barb left us too soon and far too fast. Her greatest pleasures in life were based on quality over quantity. She treasured her daughters and their interests and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as ‘Grandma’ to her grandson Parker, in whom her extreme pride and love was unmeasurable. She had a vivacious personality and a sarcastic sense of humour that always carried her through the tough times. Her laugh was contagious and she knew how to light up the room. Most importantly, was her unconditional love and support. She knew how to bring comfort to a situation and brighten your day. She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman, who remained loyal in her convictions, yet carried a soft spot for others.  Everything she did was with pride and passion, while holding those that impacted her life in high regard.

However, chief among these, was her devotion to Christ. Barb was our hero throughout her illness. She accepted her diagnosis with dignity and was not afraid; reminding us that her last breathe on earth would be her first breathe in the arms of her Lord and Saviour. She inspired us with her positive, cheerful outlook in happy anticipation of heaven and into His loving embrace she went quietly and willingly, with unwavering confidence. Her faith and courage never faltered, and He was joyful to receive her. Her great love and example remains un-weakened to help ease the pain of our loss. Barb will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts by all whose lives she touched.

Barb, we will see you again! For you, joyful anticipation, but for us, a sorrowful awaiting…“If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I’d walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.” Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort knowing she is in heaven watching over us.  A Private Family Service will be held.

Memorial donations in Barb’s name may be made to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan.  Friends & family are invited to share their memories of Barb with her family.
