Obituary of Marjorie Anne Fritzler

Please share a memory of Marjorie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marjorie Anne Fritzler passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020. The eldest of two children, Anne, as she became known, was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Godfrey; parents Cameron and Kathleen Turnbull; brother Colin; parents-in-law Jacob and Susanna; sisters-in-law Susan, Emily, Katie, Freda, Annie; and brothers-in-law Edward and Alex. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Verne (Patty and children Debbi, Taya, Dawn, Miranda, and their families), Gordon (Connie), Colton (Rhea) and Aaron, Bruce (Shaunna), Karson and Kane (Kaitlyn). Surviving family are sister-in-law Dorothy Turnbull, Cameron (Rachel); sister-in-law Eleanor Riach; brother-in-law Bill Dabrowski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Marjorie Anne Turnbull was born on May 11, 1934 in Regina, SK. Anne attended Govan Public and High School and she spoke fondly of times spent with her cousins during these years. Anne was active in both her school and United Church events such as CGIT and choir. She also studied piano for several years. Following her high school graduation in 1952, she moved to Regina to attend Balfour Technical Business College and then worked for GMAC. Anne met Godfrey, the love of her life, at a dance and they would marry on June 12, 1954. Together they built a life farming and raising their family of three sons. Godfrey and Anne instilled farming, the importance of family, and the significance of education in their sons, all of whom would complete university. Anne was always involved and busy with community activities, serving in various roles with the Govan United Church, and enjoyed singing in the Church’s choir. Anne’s catering expertise was called upon for community events including fowl suppers, sports days and the 2005 Govan Homecoming. Despite all her committee work and volunteering, Anne was a mother first. She was always a strong supporter of her children’s activities and schooling and that support continued with her four grandsons. Anne was pleased as her family grew and was proud of her sons, daughters-in law, and grandchildren. Health issues over the past several years did not stop Anne’s determination to enjoy her life, family, and friends or to maintain her strong faith. Since Godfrey’s passing, she was a champion of her independence and always appreciated and valued the many opportunities for gatherings and reminiscing with family and friends that she continued to be blessed with. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Govan School, Govan, SK. Donations in memory of Anne may be made to the Govan Community Centre.
