Obituary of Alice Green

Please share a memory of Alice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
There is no describing my Mom in just a few words. She was beautiful, kind, loving and strong. She married young and had 2 girls in quick succession. She worked for many years at Silk-o-Lina Ltd in Regina, where she made many life-long friends. When she retired from there after 28 years she moved to the farm. She survived losing her eldest daughter to leukemia at the age of 5 years. She got me through childhood, high school, dating, marriage and having babies, always by my side with advice and support. She saw her husband Percy through many health issues over the years, including two heart attacks, cancer surgery twice and eventually by-pass surgery. When Dad was finally healthy, Mom got the devastating Parkinson’s diagnosis. The first few years after that weren’t too bad. They were still able to hop in their truck and fifth-wheel trailer and go to Dad’s archery events and to visit extended family. Eventually Dad was unable to care for Mom on the farm and she was placed in long term care at the Fillmore Health Center, where she had once worked (after moving to the farm), when it was an actual hospital. This is where she spent the last 6 years of her life. Dad was able to bring her home on weekends and special occasions for awhile, but had to quit when it became too much for him. The kind, compassionate staff at the Health Center made her days with an increasingly debilitating disease as pleasant and easy as was possible under the circumstances of her illness. We will be forever grateful for the wonderful care they gave Mom right to the end of her life. As we were leaving, after Mom passed, one of the nurses gave me a hug and whispered “thank you for sharing your Mom with us “. I’d like her to know that meant a lot to me. We will all miss you so much Mom, but are grateful your battle with Parkinson’s is over. You can now Rest in Peace. AN INTERMENT WILL BE HELD AT A LATER DATE
