Obituary of Bruno Tommasini

Please share a memory of Bruno to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear papá, nonno, husband, brother, zio and friend. Bruno was born the fifth of seven children in Vivaro to Vittoria and Amerigo Tommasini. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Maria; children Gloria (Ron), Laura (Stephen) and Bruno Jr. (Tanya); his adored grandchildren Mitchell, Ellen and Meelayna; as well as sisters Norina of Argentina, Norma and Graziella of Italy; and numerous nieces and nephews. At the age of 25, he left his beloved Italy in pursuit of a better life in Canada. After establishing his home in Regina with Maria, he formed cherished and long-lasting friendships in the Italian community and was a proud founding father of the Italian-Canadian Club. Bruno was a dedicated hard-working butcher for 24 years. In his early fifties he chose to retrain himself and gained employment in maintenance at Riffel High School where he retired in 1997. His hands were never idle. His many hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening, woodworking, cooking, and making wine. Bruno always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye, and when possible a fishing rod in his hands. His plentiful garden was another passion, and he was always happy to share the fruits of his labour. His greatest devotion however was his family. We grew up knowing that we were loved; and that he would be there for us unconditionally. In later years, nothing made him happier than a visit from his children and grandchildren, and days all together at the lake especially so. He was a good man with a big heart, an honest genuine person who valued the truly important things in life. He will be deeply missed and always remembered. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Riverbend Crossing Memory Care for giving our papá a home and caring for him with the utmost love and compassion; as well as the incredibly kind staff at the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital who graciously guided us through his final journey. Flowers are gratefully declined, however donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan in Bruno’s memory.
