Obituary of Katarzyna Rusnaczyk

Our beloved Babcia, Katarzyna Rusnaczyk (nee Kawa) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, January 24th, 2020, at the age of 103. She was predeceased by her husband Michal Rusnaczyk; sons-in-law Jozef Findura and Stefan Kromka. Katarzyna is lovingly remembered by her 7 children Michal Rusnaczyk (Helena), Maria (Jozef) Findura, Helena (Stanislow) Habieda, Jozefa (Stefan) Kromka, Franciszek (Stanislowa) Rusnaczyk, Anna Rusnaczyk, and Malgozata (Nicholas) Melnyk; her 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Katarzyna was born in Frydman, Poland in 1916. In 1981, at the age of 65 she immigrated to Canada to take care of her grandchildren. Her love radiated to all of us and will be forever treasured. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her love. Her eyes lit up with love for her family and friend’s every time she saw them. Babcia’s legacy is that love and kindness always wins. And that continues to be passed down through generations. We would like to say a special thank you to all the home care nursing staff for their help and care of our Babcia over the last two years. Thank you also to the palliative care nurses who helped her in her final days at home. Prayers will be held on Friday, January 31st, 2020, at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Polish Parish, 2275 Atkinson Street at 7:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Polish Parish on Saturday, February 1st, 2020, at 11:00am. Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. Reception will be at St. Anthony’s Hall, 1825 Winnipeg Street, immediately following interment.
