Obituary of Douglas Henry Cushway

Dad passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 22, 2019 at the age of 96. Predeceased by his wife Phyillis Cushway in April 2012; Parents Leonard & Annie Cushway; brothers Leonard & Alvin; sister Dorothy; step son Robert Fowler. He is survived by his brother Roy; daughters Donaleen (John) Bettis (Leslie & Marcy), Patricia (Gerry) Pope (Trevor & Rocky), Joni (Dave) Willfong (Michal, Parker, Carman, Jamie), Robyn (Chris) Butz (Danae, Geordie, Cara); step daughters Janice (Ron) Fowler-Copeman (Ian, Erin), Barbara (Bill) Moore (Julie, Todd) & Roberts children Shelly, Stephanie, Brenda & James; Great grandchildren to numerous to mention; 3 great-great grandchildren; 4 nephews & 1 niece. Dad lost his legs on a shoe min in WWII at the age of 20, getting his first set of artificial legs on his 21st birthday, he never looked back. Dad lived a full and active life, having worked for the P.F.R.A. for over 30 years retiring to Regina Beach in the mid 1970’s and spending over 20 years vacationing with mom in Mesa Arizona in the winter months. His love of golf kept him on the links well into his 80’s. Dad maintained his sharp mind and independence to the end with weekly crib or bridge games and trips to the mall for coffee and people watching, as he put it. “Did you ever know that you’re my hero, And everything I would like to be?
