Obituary of Marty McKinnon

Please share a memory of Marty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of Martin McKinnon announces his passing on November 21, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Martin will be lovingly remembered by his family, including his wife of 62 years, Elaine; children, Marta (Don), Brian (Tracy), Ken (Coleen) and Wayne (Wendy); his grandchildren, Derek (Jill), Laurel (Cody), Jessica (Travis), Kyle (Samantha), Kayla, Matt, and Tristan; great grandchildren, Benson, Joey and Connor; and brother, Donald McKinnon. Martin was preceded by his brother, Melvin McKinnon, and his parents, Frank and Rachel McKinnon. Martin has touched many people's lives throughout his life. His compassion for others was one of his greatest attributes. He had the ability to put a smile on many faces. Martin was a pipefitter by trade, and was one of the very best in the industry. His leadership skills were evident. He established several mechanical companies before he retired in 1988, when he turned ownership of McKinnon's Plumbing and Heating over to his son, Ken. Martin was also a very good athlete. He loved to golf in the summer and curl in the winter. As a young man, he played ball and hockey, as well. Martin was a member of the Odd Fellow's and Rebekah Lodges in Regina. The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) is a non-political and non-sectarian international fraternal Odd Fellowship. The order is also known as the Triple Links Fraternity. This name refers to the order's "Triple Links" symbol, which itself alludes to the motto "Friendship, Love and Truth". Martin lived and embodied this motto in each and every day of his life. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to The Odd Fellow's and Rebekah Visual Research and Equipment Foundation at 202 Westpointe Estates Regina, SK, S4Y 1A4.
