Obituary of Wayne William Laidlaw

Wayne William Laidlaw passed away peacefully on March 27th, 2018 at Regina General Hospital. Wayne was predeceased by his father Neil and mother Delores Laidlaw. Wayne is lovingly remembered by his wife Mary and his daughters; Michelle Laidlaw, Regina, SK; Teresa (Mitch) Peterson, granddaughters Hannah and Sarah, Regina Beach, SK; Cheryl Laidlaw (Mike Worona), granddaughter Charlotte, Pilot Butte, SK. Brothers Bob (Gloria) Laidlaw, Stoney Plain, AB; nephews Neil (Roxanne), Spruce Grove, AB and Adam (Carla) and family, Edmonton, AB; Kim (Karen) Laidlaw, Salt Spring Island, BC; nephews Steven (Breanne) and family, Calgary, AB and Pat (Chantel) Medicine Hat, AB. Sister Karen (Raymond) Peterson, Climax, SK; nephew Jeff, Climax, SK and niece Megan, Moose Jaw, SK. Cousins Bill (Erica) Garman and family, Calgary, AB; Marcia Garman, Medicine Hat, AB and Jill (Carlo) Brandelli and family, Calgary, AB. Wayne was born in Shaunavon, SK July 4th, 1945. His parents farmed at Climax. As a youngster he was always interested in engines, tools and mechanics.  Following attendance at Saskatchewan Technical Institute in Moose Jaw, he worked as a technologist at SaskTel. Over the years his jobs were varied.  He especially enjoyed designing underground formations and manholes, and supervising work as it was being completed by the contractors. When he retired in 1997, he pursued farming in the Vibank area. His hobbies included cars, motorcycles, hunting, working with machinery, collecting and restoring tractors.  He enjoyed his many camping trips with family and friends. Wayne also enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends. A memorial celebration of Wayne’s life will occur at a later date. Interment of his ashes will be held by the family at the Climax Cemetery, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Hospitals of Regina, or a charity of your choice.
