Obituary of Sophie Barbara Sebastian

Sophie Barbara Sebastian (nee Grodecki)
March 21, 1937 – September 29, 2017
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Sophie on Friday, September 29, 2017 in Regina, SK at the age of 80. Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Robert (Shelley) Sebastian, Tabatha (Scott) Fischer and Tanya Sebastian (Rob Green); grandchildren Amanda, Jennifer and May Fischer and Ty, Sierra and Tayven Green; sisters Bernice, Fran, Mary and Gloria (Marv); brothers Albin, John (Noemie), Benny and Lawrence, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and cherished friends. She was predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Grodecki; infant grandson Layne Green; sisters Frances, Lorraine, Margaret, Ann, Victoria, Jennie, Rose, Julie and Nellie; brothers Stanley, and Peter.
Sophie was a devout catholic who lived a quiet life dedicated to her family and close friends. She had a 45 year career with the Regina General Hospital of which she made many cherished friendships. She was an avid reader and loved to bake. New babies were welcomed with a crocheted blanket, as well as anyone else who wanted one, all you had to do was ask! Her most cherished time was spent with her grandchildren. Mom you will be forever loved and missed. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Basil Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1747 Toronto St., Regina, SK. Interment will follow at Bulyea Cemetery, Bulyea,SK.  Donations may be made in Sophie’s memory to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. The family wishes to give special thanks to the William Booth Care Home in Regina for their excellent care and attention during Mom's residency.
