It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Burnett on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife Marj of 63 years. He is survived by five sons, Jim (Kelly), Bob (Carmiña), Ken (Donna), Doug (Wenda Moskowy) and Ron; grandchildren, Jim (Jodi), Gord, Samantha (Jon Ryan), Jorie, Robert (Jamie), Bonnie (Blayne Campbell), Matthew (Melissa Burchi), Mitchell (Yolandi), Jessica, Alex, Braeden Moskowy, Brooklyn Moskowy (Connor Haas), Michelle, Sean (Melissa) and great grandchildren, Sophie, Hunter, Jett, Holly, Danielle, Carson, Callie, Sydney, Chase, Myia, Lennox and Hawksley;  brother-in-law, Chuck Hodgson and family, Bill, Lynn, and Bev.  He was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Ann Burnett; infant brother, William; sister-in law Laverne Hodgson; daughter-in-law, Lori and great-grandson, Zachary. Jim was born on the family farm near Bethune, Saskatchewan. Jim excelled in academics graduating from the University of Saskatchewan where he obtained his Bachelor of Education and Masters of Education degrees. Jim married the love of his life, Marj and together they shared many happy times. Family was the center of their lives. He was a loving partner, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jim touched the lives of many and had a passion for educating children through both formal and informal means.  He believed that people should be able to learn while having fun as much as through formal classroom situations. Jim and Marj shared a lifelong commitment to the Canadian and Saskatchewan Lung Associations. There will be a Private Celebration honoring Jim’s life for family and close friends of Jim and Marj, at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 29th, 2017 at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lung Association at 1231- 8th Street East, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, S7H 0S5.
