Obituary of Derek Stanley Akapew

Derek (Deka) Stanley Akapew December 4, 1982 - March 30, 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Derek Akapew. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Shirley Akapew; maternal grandfather James Nahnepowisk; father Barry (Budge) Akapew & Clarence (Chuck) Thompson; niece Kalayah. Derek is survived by his kokum Helen Nahnepowisk; grandma Linda Thompson; mother Marcy and special mom Isabel Nahnepowisk; brothers Bear (Shanna), Colten (Tommiko), Barry, Kendall and adopted brother Jeremy Fourhorns; sisters Chasity (Fred), Tennielle(Tubba), Kandace(Jeff), Tasheena; his children Fearence, Darius, Daryk, Lola, Jaydah, Courage, Jaedyce and Jessa-Jai. Deka was loved by all his family. Special thank you to Mark Fox. A Traditional Wake will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Piapot Band Hall, Piapot First Nation with Funeral Service held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from the same location with Elders Officiating. Burial will follow at Piapot Cemetery. At the request of the family, please NO flowers.
