Obituary of Hans Beck

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished father and grandfather, Hans Beck, on Thursday, December 28, 2023. Hans was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Anne; birth mother, Marie Lüllich; parents, Paul and Elsa Beck; siblings, Karl and Suzie; and extended family members. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Patty (Doug) and Paul (Kristine); grandchildren, Annaliese, Benjamin, Andrew and Fiona; sisters-in-law, Helen and Lorraine; and countless family members and friends, here and in Germany.

Hans was born in Hornberg, Germany and spent his childhood in the Heidelberg area. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 and later moved to Saskatchewan. In 1962, he met Anne, the love of his life. They married in May 1964 and began building their life together. In the late sixties, Hans began working for the City of Regina Parks Department as a labourer and worked his way up to Foreman over the years. Hans was kind, hard-working, fun-loving, welcoming and always ready to lend a hand. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. We fondly remember family holidays, including camping adventures and trips to Oregon in the early years, and more recently, trips to visit family in Germany. He was resilient and generous of spirit, despite hardships throughout his life. As Anne’s health declined, Hans cared for her with compassion and tenderness that showed the deepness of their love. In 2013, Hans and Anne moved from our family home into Marian Chateau, where Hans built deep friendships and enjoyed participating in activities. He loved music and was blessed with a deep, rich singing voice, which he loved to share in church, with friends and in his daily life. He trusted in God and lived fully and vibrantly. His gentle nature, playfulness and generosity touched and inspired our family and those who had the good fortune to know him. He will be dearly missed.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at New Hope Lutheran Church, 370 McIntosh Street North, Regina, SK. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Luncheon and interment will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Lutheran Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Saskatchewan.
