Obituary of Ronald James Bousfield

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of a cherished husband, father, grandpa and friend. Following a diagnosis of cancer in early 2020, Ron fought with grace, dignity and bravery to live with this devastating disease. Never complaining and always brightening up everyone else’s day, he maintained his positive attitude throughout his struggles, and it could be felt by everyone he came in contact with.

Ron’s love for his family grew deeper with each passing day. He is survived by his loving wife Pat; children Desmond of Coaldale, AB (Nicole, children Josten, Tori, Ryder, Lainie); Lindsay of Medicine Hat, AB (Billy, children Jenae, Brody), and Jacqueline of Olds, AB; brother Rick (and family); sister Deb; father and mother in-law Gerald and Doreen Vancuren, brother in-law Kevin and Joy Vancuren (and family), sister in-law Cindy and Randy Kopek (and family), brother in-law Warren and Kathy Vancuren (and family). Ron is predeceased by baby Jill, and his parents Jack and Helen Bousfield.

Ron was born in Radville and attended Ceylon school through to grade 12. Ron met his life partner Pat in 1973, they were married in 1975, and resided in Calgary. Ron’s work took them overseas and to various places throughout Canada, during which they also started a family. In 1983, Ron and Pat had completed their family, and with three small children they began a new life farming at the family farm near Ceylon, where they farmed for many years. Later, they moved to Weyburn, then to Regina, and to Glen Harbour where they enjoyed pristine views of the lake, many sunsets and sunrises, visits, and grandchildren.

Ron wanted you to know that he had a great life and although he had to leave earlier than he had hoped, Ron left feeling fulfilled and positive about what lay beyond. His happiest moments were those spent with family around him, and throughout Ron’s life there were many visits to Alberta to see Desmond, Lindsay, and Jacqueline and their families including six grandchildren. Through the years Ron enjoyed RV trips with his family, riding his Harley Davidson’s, fishing and camping, and especially his retirement home overlooking the lake, that he spent many hours building.

In closing our family would like to thank Dr. Andraws, Dr. Hagel and team, and all the nurses and staff at Allan Blair Cancer Centre; the Palliative Home Care Program, and their wonderful nurses; and all the kind health care providers that gave us the tools for Ron to stay at home. We received such loving care through their support.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023 at the Weyburn Knox Presbyterian Church, 136 2nd Street, Weyburn, SK with lunch to follow.  Interment will take place at 3:00 p.m.  in Ceylon Cemetery, Ceylon, SK. For those who kindly wish to honour Ron’s memory, donations may be made to Allan Blair Cancer Centre or the Palliative Home Care Program of Saskatchewan.   Online messages of condolence may be left at www.paragonfuneralservices.com
