MALIN, Garld Howard

1926 - 2018

Garld was born to Ernest and Mildred (nee Stutt) Malin on the family farm at Fertile, SK and passed away on December 25, 2018 at the Pasqua Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 69 years Beatrice (nee Haygarth); son Merle (Kathleen) and daughter Patsy (Dennis) Kostick. Very proud of his 3 Malin grandsons Jeffrey (Debbie), Wesley (Kim) and Colin (Dr. Cheryl); 4 great grandchildren Alison, Adam, Rhett and Avery as well as many nieces and nephews. Garld was predeceased by brother Milton and sister Eleanor and several brothers and sisters in law. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1948. Farmed for a few years, worked for Cooperatives, Adult and cross cultural education. Garld worked in the Northwest Territories, Saskatoon, Brandon, Winnipeg, Thompson, Regina and ending his career in Ghana, West Africa. He contributed to conferences in Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Canada, United States, Bermuda and Mexico. He was an active member of the Anglican Church, most recently All Saints Church and the Regina Gyros Club. He enjoyed spending winters in Palm Springs and Mesa, Arizona. Garld loved traveling and experiencing new things. As extensive travel became more difficult, he took to enjoying the views from cruise ships. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at All Saints Anglican Church, 142 Massey Rd., Regina, SK. Thank you to the staff at Harbour House – Wintergreene for their excellent care for the past 6 months.
