David Sugar

1932 – 2018

David Sugar passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Regina General Hospital.  Ka pimihow peyisew (Flying Eagle) began his journey to the Spirit World on September 9, 2018 at age 86. David is predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Joseph and Annie Sugar; maternal grandparents: Katherine (nee McKay) and Solomon Toto; Parents John and Elizabeth (nee Toto) Sugar, sisters Madeline Sugar, Mary Sugar.  David is survived by his loving partner of 33 years Sadie Cote, and all his Cote family, his brother John Sugar, sister in law Yvonne Bigknife and close relatives from the Toto and Poitras families, and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Wake will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Piapot Community Hall, Piapot First Nation, SK with Traditional Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018 from the same location. Please no children under 12 years of age in attendance or expectant mothers. The family would like to thank the nurses in ICU, Regina General Hospital for the care given to David.  A special thank you to Chief George Cote and Cote First Nation Council for their support and Chief Jeremy Fourhorns and Councillors George Toto and Marilyn Kaiswatum for coming to support the family.
